back in sync.

Start with the quick answers below. If your setup still isn’t behaving, email support with your device, iOS version, light brands and a short description of what happened.

What do I need to use Light DJ Remix?

You need an iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 15 or later, a Wi-Fi network, and supported Philips Hue, LIFX or Nanoleaf lights. Apple Music and Shazam features require their respective permissions and services.

Which smart lights are supported?

Remix supports compatible Philips Hue, LIFX and Nanoleaf lights. You can combine supported ecosystems in one setup. Compatibility can vary with hardware, firmware, network conditions, operating-system version, region and changes made by third-party services.

What is the difference between Hue Entertainment and Legacy Hue?

Hue Entertainment provides the fastest, smoothest Hue shows and supports more effects. It requires an Entertainment area created in the Philips Hue app. Legacy Hue supports older Hue setups and more selected lights, but runs a slower, smaller universal effect set. If any connected bridge uses Legacy mode, Remix uses effects compatible with every connected device.

How do I set up a Hue Entertainment area?
  1. Open the Philips Hue app.
  2. Go to Settings → Entertainment areas.
  3. Create an area and place the lights as they are arranged in your room.
  4. Return to Light DJ Remix, refresh the bridge and select that area.
How does Music mode work?

Choose Apple Music to follow music playing on your device, or choose Microphone to identify nearby music with Shazam. Remix checks for a compatible local or eligible Community Cache show before creating a new show for the identified track. Apple Music availability and Shazam recognition can vary by song, account, service and region.

Does Remix play or license the music?

Apple Music playback is provided through Apple’s services. Remix can also listen for music coming from another source, but it does not grant public-performance, reproduction, streaming or synchronization rights. You are responsible for any music licenses required by your event, venue, recording or stream.

What counts as an AI generation?

Creating a new show, requesting a fresh variation or making an AI-directed edit may use one generation. Identifying a song does not use a generation. Replaying a show already in your history, saved shows, local cache or eligible Community Cache also does not use one.

Why did Remix play a show without using a generation?

Remix checks for a compatible show before creating a new one. It may find a show you previously created on this device or, for eligible users, a show in the shared Community Cache. You can explicitly ask for another variation when you want a fresh result; that action uses a generation.

How do I restore or cancel a subscription?

Use Restore Purchases in the Remix purchase screen to restore eligible App Store access. Manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple Account subscription settings. Canceling stops the next renewal but normally leaves access active through the paid period. Deleting the app or your Remix account does not cancel a subscription.

What is the Community Cache?

The Community Cache helps eligible users reuse compatible music-aware shows so the same recording may not need another AI generation. Contributing is optional and switched off by default. If you turn it on, eligible automatically generated music shows may be associated with the recording. Account details, custom prompts, room names and light names are not intentionally included. You can stop future contributions in Settings.

Does Remix store what the microphone hears?

NRTHRNLIGHTS does not intentionally retain raw microphone recordings or send raw microphone audio to the Remix AI-generation server. Apple may process audio or audio signatures for speech recognition and Shazam under Apple’s policies. Tempo analysis may happen on the device. Text created through dictation becomes a prompt only if you submit it.

What information is sent for AI generation?

Depending on the feature you use, a request can include your prompt, recent conversation context, current show, supported hardware types and counts, and eligible room, light, track and tempo context. The generation request does not intentionally include your account name, email address or raw microphone audio unless you put personal information into a submitted field. Read the Privacy Policy for the complete disclosure.

How do I delete my account?

Open the Light DJ Network account-management screen in Remix and choose Delete Account. This permanently removes the Firebase authentication account and associated Remix cloud records, subject to the exceptions in the Privacy Policy. Local data remains until you remove it or delete the app. Cancel an App Store subscription separately.

Remix cannot find or control my lights. What should I check?
  • Confirm the iPhone or iPad and the lights or bridge are on the same local network.
  • Allow Local Network access for Light DJ Remix in iOS Settings.
  • Make sure VPN, guest-network or router isolation settings are not blocking local devices.
  • Power-cycle the light controller or bridge and restart Remix.
  • For Hue Entertainment, verify that the area still exists in the Hue app and is not active in another app.
  • Refresh or reconnect the affected light service from Remix Settings.
Music recognition or tempo sync is not working. What should I check?
  • Allow Microphone, Speech Recognition and Media & Apple Music access for the features you use.
  • For Shazam, play clear music near the device and reduce nearby conversation or noise.
  • For Apple Music, confirm the track is actively playing and your account can access it.
  • If another app is using the microphone or audio route, stop it and try again.
How should I use flashing effects safely?

Some shows include rapid flashes, strobes, intense colors or sudden brightness changes that may affect people with photosensitive epilepsy or related sensitivities. Test shows at low brightness, warn viewers, provide an immediate way to stop playback and avoid hazardous use around vehicles, stairs, machinery or crowds. Stop immediately if anyone experiences discomfort.
